Family life centred around food and it’s where his love of cooking began. Moving to England as a student was an adventure, but Nhan yearned for the flavours of home: the herbs, broths, the balance of sweet, sour and salty. And so, he began to cook. Time-honoured, family recipes, handed down through generations. ## A Love Story Built on Food In 2009, Nhan met someone who saw food the way he did. Pham, his now wife, and a passionate traveller, shared his love for exploring flavours. Nights were spent discovering new restaurants, tasting dishes from different cultures and dreaming of a place of their own; a restaurant that would bring authentic Vietnamese cuisine to England. In 2017, their dream became a reality when they opened the doors on Suum Kitchen – their very own Vietnamese restaurant in Marlow. ##### Read more ### Mastering the Craft Suum, roughly translated, means ‘a cosy gathering around the table’ and soon became the ‘go-to’ place for people searching for a new culinary experience; South Asian food cooked from the heart. It’s still the only Vietnamese restaurant in Buckinghamshire and one of only a handful across the Home Counties. Suum Kitchen was an instant success, but Nhan wanted to take Vietnamese cuisine to the next level, blending traditional cooking methods with the elegance of fine dining. In 2021, he took a leap of faith and enrolled at the world-renowned cookery school, [Le Cordon Bleu London](https://www.cordonbleu.edu/london/home/en). There, he studied alongside chefs from around the world, learning the science of flavour, the discipline of fine dining, and the art of turning simple ingredients into the extraordinary. They seated us both without a booking for lunch. The service was excellent, and the food was unlike anything I'd ever tasted. So flavourful, and perfectly cooked. The Hanoi-style Pho was the star – rich, aromatic broth with tender beef, so generous and comforting. The Beef Stew was absolutely delicious too, slow-cooked and full of flavour. Everything was beautifully presented and well balanced. The portions are generous and the kitchen even accommodated adjustments for us, which we really appreciated. For dessert, we tried the Chocolate cuddle and it was the perfect light finish. Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Definitely coming back! Incredible Value🔥** Ordered a takeaway from here, unfortunately no pics of the food, because I smashed it when I got back home. Had a chicken and prawn broth, summer rolls, crispy pancake... honestly the best Vietnamese food I've had outside of Vietnam. Highly recommend. Also had a cheeky half pint while I waited for my food. Thanks! New chef Nguyen has really excelled. We had a meal here with friends and all four dishes and starters were of the highest quality. Having just returned from Vietnam, we wanted to relive some of the food memories and this did not disappoint. And even better, most of the food is naturally gluten free. Service was excellent and overall is was a great night! I've already been twice this year, both times with girl friends and on both occasions there was a lovely bustling atmosphere, excellent service from start to finish, and everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their food. The prices are very reasonable too, for such authentic and delicious Vietnamese food. Their summer roll starters are beautifully wrapped, super fresh and actually taste healthy; and their aubergine & tofu pot is my favourite - just delicious. Great phos too. Can't wait to go again :) Posted on Tripadvisor ![Tripadvisor](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/icon.svg) ![Emilia Sams profile picture](https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-w/14/e9/11/71/emilia-s.jpg) Emilia Sams 9 February 2024 ![Tripadvisor star 1](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/star/f.svg)![Tripadvisor star 2](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/star/f.svg)![Tripadvisor star 3](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/star/f.svg)![Tripadvisor star 4](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/star/f.svg)![Tripadvisor star 5](https://cdn.trustindex.io/assets/platform/Tripadvisor/star/f.svg)Verified**Everything was superb.** What a wonderful evening.
